" As Odets is my playwright, Copland is my composer. His world is parallel with mine."
--Harold Clurman, director, world premier Rocket to the Moon on Broadway in 1938.

Part social criticism, part romance... Clurman credits Rocket to the Moon with containing Odets' most brilliant writing: "Love in its broadest sense, is a constant in all Odets' writing, the very root of his talent." A struggling dentist, his grieving wife, her manipulative father and a naive young office assistant come together to give unique voice to feelings of failure, deferred dreams and human yearning in a story as universally poignant today as it was when it was written.
